This cutting-edge mindset training program is based on the latest brain research on peak performance, resilience, focus, and flow, incorporating principles from sports psychology, positive psychology, and neuroscience.

  • Online and in-person classes are available, meeting once per week for 2-hour sessions over 8 weeks.

    The sessions are experiential and interactive, with participants coached to set their own goals for practice between sessions.

    • Class 1: Intro to Mindfulness & Performance

    • Class 2: Interoceptive Resilience (Recognizing and regulating performance stress)

    • Class 3: Performance Stories (Recognizing and regulating unhelpful thinking and mind wandering)

    • Class 4: Priming for Flow (Trusting your training and performing naturally and spontaneously)

    • Class 5: Working with Pain & Difficulty (Addressing rather than distracting, avoiding, or repressing)

    • Class 6: Your Inner Coaches (Tackling perfectionism and the inner critic)

    • Class 7: Practicing Positivity (Leveraging personal character strengths and gratitude)

    • Class 8: Setting Intentions & Goals

    • Optional: One-day Mindful Team Leadership workshop for skill integration.

  • What is Flow?

    Flow is a state of focus where one becomes completely immersed in an activity, experiencing the joy of doing something simply for the sake of doing it.
    "The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one...Your whole being is involved.”

    Why Flow?

    People who find flow, “experience feelings of success, pride, joy, and accomplishment—all of which encourage more learning and development.”

    Why mPEAK?

    In order to find flow, we must trust our talent and training in the moment. Overthinking, hesitation, and self-limiting thoughts are all habits of the mind that need to be broken in order to perform at our peak. It’s easy to say, “Just play.” But that is a skill to be practiced and developed like any other.

Widely considered the gold standard for teaching mindfulness, MBSR is a science-based program that cultivates resilience, helping to interrupt the body’s physiological reaction to stress and enabling us to choose how we respond to life’s challenges.

  • What are anxious thoughts?

    Anxious thoughts are the phrases, messages, and images that run through your head when you experience feelings of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event, something with an uncertain outcome, or a past trauma.

    How do they affect performance?

    Anxious thoughts, whether they are true or not, initiate a physiological stress reaction in the body. Sometimes, the field is our sanctuary, but stressful situations outside of our sport—relationships, finances, or academics—interrupt our focus.

    Why MBSR?

    Stress affects our sleep, relationships, performance, and health, and each of these, in turn, impacts our stress levels. While much of the stress in our lives is unavoidable, it is possible to live differently with it—to find internal peace despite external pressure.

  • Do I need this?

    Sometimes, the field is our sanctuary, but it is the stressful situations outside of our sport—relationships, finances, academics—that interrupt our focus.

    Alternatively, you might notice that you often worry about making a mistake, letting your teammates down, or thinking that the coach doesn’t like you or is being unfair. These thoughts can limit your ability to perform at your peak. The good news is that mindfulness can help in all of these scenarios.

    Will it give me the edge?


    Mindfulness is not magic; it is work. However, there is 40 years of research indicating that it can increase situational awareness in athletes and enhance performance for those in high-stress environments. Mindfulness is not a replacement for performance and skill training; it is a necessary complement.
